James Van Der Beek has joked he can no longer handle his medication.

The Dawson's Creek star is easily affected by drugs because has doesn't consume enough. James has taken to his Twitter account to describe the outcome of taking his allergy medicine.

"Two Benadryl just knocked me on my ass. I clearly don't do enough drugs anymore #dangersofcleanliving (sic)," he wrote.

The 35-year-old actor admits he is feeling more pain as he ages. He recently posted a picture to show his allergic reaction to a bee sting.

"Anybody else finding bee stings far worse the older you get? Think I need an antihistamine (sic)" he said alongside a photo of his red hands and face.

James - who has made a comeback on his new hit series sitcom Don't Trust the B***h in Apartment 23 - has described his clean life in the past. He and his family eat organic and do everything they can to lessen their carbon footprint.

"We've got a solar-heated pool. It works pretty well in the summer. It doesn't work quite so well in the wintertime," he has previously revealed.

"We buy organic, we recycle, drive a diesel car. Organic, non-toxic cleaning supplies, everything from dishwasher to detergent and soap."
