West Virginia — Donald Trump has bragged that he’s the greatest president in the history of the U.S.
Speaking at the GOP retreat in Virginia Thursday, Mr Trump shared a simpering anecdote from Senator Orrin Hatch.
He recalled:'(Orrin) said once, I am the single greatest president in his lifetime. ‘Now he’s a young man, so it’s not that much, but he actually once said I’m the greatest president in the history of our country. And I said ‘Does that include Lincoln and Washington?’ and he said ‘Yes,’ and I said ‘I love this guy’.
A spokesman for Hatch later told reporters that the senator told Trump that he “can” be the best president ever, not that he is.
Trump failed to play down the extreme praise, and instead called Hatch ‘a very spectacular man.’ But many took exception to the comment – with Hatch’s Wikipedia updated soon after to slate his devotion to Trump. The semi-fictional bio read: ‘Orrin Grant Hatch or “Tooly McToolface” has officially bent the knee to emperor Trump and stated he is a better President than George Washington founder of this Nation and Abraham Lincoln who abolished slavery
